How to Hire Adwords Companies

The growth of Pay Per Click advertising and especially Google Adwords over recent years has been dramatic. It’s hardly surprising really since it has proved to be highly effective and provide unparalleled reach across previously unreachable customer markets.

However, this impressive growth has been matched by the sudden appearance of many Adwords Management companies all vying for business.

Many of these companies are at best staffed with eager amateurs who are learning their trade at the client’s expense. Some companies are even worse than that!

Not surprisingly, many businesses are wary of hiring someone to manage their Adwords advertising for them.

However the truth is that there are some very professional Adwords Managers who are providing an excellent service to their clients. You just need to find them!

How do you choose an Adwords Management company?

Try asking your prospective Adwords company the following questions and see what answers you get.

Is the person who will manage your account a Qualified Professional

Google offer a qualification for anyone who wants to sell their services as an Adwords Management specialist.

Whilst the examination does not necessarily mean that the person will be an expert at managing Adwords accounts, it does show that they understand the mechanics of managing an account. It also shows some professional commitment on their behalf in being prepare to take the examination.

Check with the company who are proposing to manage your account that the person who will actually manage the account is an accredited Google Qualified Professional. They should be able to show you their page on Google that clearly shows they have obtained the Qualification.

Do not get misled by the answer that they are an Adwords Qualified Company. This does not guarantee you will get an Adwords Qualified Professional as our recent blog post explains.

Is there a minimum period that you have to sign up for?

Be careful not to get tied to a long term contract.

Some Adwords companies insist on a minimum sign up period because they know that a lot of their work will be upfront and they want to be sure that you will remain with them beyond that first month.

However the real way they should convince you to stay with them is by delivering value. If they are delivering you more return than they are costing then it's a very easy decision for you to stay with them.

It is true though that it can take a few months of effective management before real value will be seen by you the client. Any good Adwords Manager should tell you that upfront if that’s what they believe. However even after only one month they should be able to demonstrate that their efforts are starting to have a positive impact.

Can they tell you what they will do to your Account?

Believe it or not some Adwords companies actually won't tell the customer what they plan to do and why. They make vague comments about reducing click price or “tuning the keywords”.

If they are any good they will have a strategy for how they will approach your campaign.

Obviously they may not have seen your existing account yet nor had time to review your business to decide up the exact approach they will take however they should be able to give you a broad idea of the steps they would take over the coming months.

Did they ask you anything about your Business?

Whilst not a question you should ask it is certainly something you should listen out for.

If they don’t ask you anything about your business then that should certainly ring a few alarm bells for you. One of the key requirements for any good Adwords Manager is understanding your clients business. How else can they write effective compelling adverts if they do not understand the product they are trying to sell?
