Are you losing traffic through your 404 page?
What’s a 404 page I hear some of you shout!
Well, if you have ever type in a webpage address that does not exist then you have probably seen something like this.

That’s a 404 page.
It’s pretty much useless to your visitor who will probably just click the back button and leave your site for good. Just think of all that web traffic that you are losing.
It would be much better if you could edit this page so that you could personalise the message and give them some options. For example, some nice links into pages on your website, a sitemap or even a search bar.
Setting up your own 404 page is actually very easy and I was going to explain it here but the guys over at Yargon have put together a really nice 3 simple steps to a customized 404 error page and why you should make one guide so why reinvent the wheel!

404 pages can also be monetized with Adsense or affiliate products. Another option is to put an opt-in form on there so you can capture some of that traffic and follow up with your visitors. You could also put a video on there and while your at it you could submit that same video to YouTube and Adwido to get some traffic.
