Adwords Editor Upgrade Bug

Google quietly released version 7 of the Adwords Editor towards the end of December 2008 for both the PC and the Mac.

Whilst the upgrade provides some very welcomed new features it also brings with it a very annoying bug if you use the automatic upgrade feature

The latest version of the Editor contains some nice new features like first page bid estimates and keyword quality score as well as some improvements to the keyword opportunities tools. I do wish they would add campaign scheduling to the editor as I find that a pain to have to do manually back on the web interface.

However the new additions are very welcome.

What is NOT so welcome is the issue they have introduced if you use the automatic update feature.

Once you have updated, you need to download your account details again for each account. This is a pain however the real issue is that any unposted changes that you had locally on your Adwords Editor are lost once you upgrade. That’s even if you use the Backup then update option.

You have been warned!

They have posted work arounds to this and you can find them here:
