YouTube gets the Adwords Treatment
Published November 16, 2008 by Mike Seddon

Well it had to happen eventually and it looks like it has.
YouTube has finally been given the Adwords treatment and its more evidence of the growing impact of Google on the Video sharing giant.
If you are in the United States then you will have noticed “Sponsored Videos” appearing on YouTube whenever you search for videos. They generally appear down right hand side of the screen (exactly like Adwords Ads on Google search)
These sponsored videos and advertising slots and guess how the advertisers pay for these slots?
Yes you guessed it. They pay every time someone clicks on the video and then visits their video on YouTube.
So, now we have pay per click YouTube.
If you want to understand more, here’s Matthew Liu, Product Manager at YouTube to explain all.
This is only available in the US at the moment but I’m sure they will roll it out to the rest of the world in the coming months.
So what do you think?
Has the innocence of YouTube been destroyed by the capitalist might of Google! Or is this just an example of a sound business strategy that should be embraced by all of us who use video to promote our businesses.
