Participating in Forums in your Market Place

If there is a forum for your type of business then they are ideal places to promote your website. However just jumping into these forums and shouting about your business is unlikely to win you any traffic or friends.

The best approach is to participate in discussions, offer help and advice. Generally just engage with your community. Most forums will allow you to have a signature for your posts. It's a short paragraph that is automatically added to any post that you make and it a great place to put a link back to your website.

If your posts are helpful, you will soon find traffic following the links back to your website.

Submit to Industry Relevant Directories

Submitting your site to lots of directories to improve your Google ranking is old news and doesn't work anymore. Google places little value on directory links.

However, if there are directories specifically for your type of business then they are usually worth submitting to as they can send highly qualified traffic to your website.

Write Articles

Articles are a great way to bring in traffic to your website. A well written article that's relevant to your business can bring in significant qualified traffic.

There are many free article distribution sites (such as ezinearticles.com) that will distribute your articles far and wide across the internet.

These sites allow you to write a short "About the Author" paragraph that has to be published with your article. It's here that you include a link back to your website.

Optimise your Website

Make sure your website is fully optimised so that people searching for your products can find your website. A top position in Google can bring in huge amounts of traffic.
