Link Building - How To Build Quality Links |
Link BuildingLink building is probably one of the most important aspects of SEO for your website.
If it is done right it will reward you with lots of quality traffic and higher rankings with the search engines.
However if it is done wrong it is a complete waste of time and it might even get you banned from the search engines
I'm predominantly going to talk about how to get links from other websites to yours. These are usually referred to as external or inbound links.
You can of course do a lot of SEO good to your site by making good use of your internal links.
Links Building Guide - Getting External Links There are many ways to get external links to your site and I'll list a few here. Getting good at link building is a skill that is well worth developing. It will reward you greatly with high quality traffic.
Writing ArticlesPossibly the fastest and easiest way to start getting inbound links is to write some articles and post them to the article submission sites.
Website owners are always on the lookout for new content for their websites and the article sites are a common hunting ground for them.
To understand more about how to generate links through your articles, read my guide on link building through articles.
DirectoriesSubmitting to directories and getting links back to your website is usually one of the first activities that most website owners try in order to get links to their sites.
There are many directories available. Some are free. Others ask for payment. The amount charged varies from directory to directory.
Submitting to the directories can take a serious amount of your time and it's worth doing it properly to get the most out of it. There are some definite Do's and Don't's when submitting you site and so I recommend reading my guide on submitting to directories.
Newsgroup's and ForumsGetting links from newsgroup's and forums is relatively easy and if you pick the right sites for your business it can be extremely rewarding.
There are two ways to get links, either through your post signature or through direct links in your posts.
Again, there is a right way and a wrong way to approach this type of linking. I cover all this in my Forum & Newsgroup Link Building guide.
