Autoresponders

If you are trying to run your web business without an autoresponder you might as well not have an email address.

Possibly that's a rather bold statement but I feel it is probably true

Most people these days expect an almost immediate reply to their emails or any requests they make through your website. If they don't get it they soon forget about you and go and find what they want with someone else - usually your competitors.

So what is an autoresponder?

An autoresponder is a service that will automatically reply to your emails or requests through your website.

They can be set up to reply immediately. For example, if you request my traffic tips below you will see that my autoresponder sends them back to you in seconds.

You can also use them to deliver a series of emails over a period of time to a particular list of people.

One way I have used them is to run email courses over a period of days. Once people sign up to the course, they are added to my autoresponder and it sends them each course email on the day it is due

As you can imagine, autoresponders can save you a lot of time as you don't have to manually reply to each email through your website. They also give you customers an immediate reply. Both extremely good reasons for using an autoresponder.
