How do I know I am listed in Google?

Google is the search engine of choice for many people on the internet today. There are over a staggering 304 million searches per day on Google. That's nearly half of all the search engine traffic on the internet.

So if you are serious about your website then you really need to be on Google.

Ok. So how do I know I am listed on Google?

Actually the correct term is indexed rather than listed. Google is a search engine and not a directory. However let us not split hairs over words.

To check if you are listed go to Google (www.google.com) and type the following command into the search bar.

info:www.domainname.com

For example:

info:www.kksmarts.com

If the search finds your site then you are listed.

You can also use the command site:www.domainname.com and this will show the pages from your domain that are listed. If it doesn't show you any of the pages from your website, then it isn't listed.

If your site isn't listed then you can go here to submit to Google.

However ONLY do this if you are not listed and ONLY do this once. When you have done this you will have to wait for Google to crawl your site so that it can add it to its list.

I would also suggest you sign up with Google Webmaster. It's a free service from Google and it's packed with information to help you track how Google is indexing your site.
