Your keywords are given three scores. Great, OK or Poor. Obviously you really want all your keywords to be Great.

How do I get a Great keywords quality score for Google Adwords?

You should read my free Guide to Success with Adwords and turn your campaigns into cash machines and not cash cows!

Enter your email address into the form below and it will be with you in seconds.

However as a quick guide here are some basic rules which are certain to effect your keyword score.

Keyword : Advert : Landing Page

Your keywords will be compared with your Ad and then it will in turn be compared with your landing page. Generally if you keyword is contained within your ad (first or second line) and it is also prominent in your landing page, then you can expect a Great keyword score.

Keep your Adgroups small and relevant

You should have small lists of similar keywords in each Adgroup and they should all be relevant to the Ads, the Landing Page and themselves!

Prune out the failing keywords

A Poorly performing keyword will impact ALL the keywords in your Adgroup and bring down their quality. I tend to move Poor keywords into Ad groups of their own and try new ads or landing pages on them. The Great performing keywords in your original group can then continue untainted by the Poor keywords.

Keep checking your Ad Groups

Your Quality score is effected by past performance. So over time Great keywords can start to slide down to Good and worse onto Poor. It is not unusual to start with a list of Great keywords and find that over a number of days they start to deteriorate. Prune out the failing keywords as explained above.
