Starting up your own new business?

So you are planning your own business. How do you feel?

Scared, confused, excited, alive!

Most people setting up their own business feel all of these emotions and usually all at the same time!

I remember how I felt many years ago when I went it alone. I don't regret it for a minute. Setting up my own business has been the best thing I have ever done.

In the UK alone, there are 400,000 new businesses starting up each year. However, nearly 80000 of these new businesses will fail within their first 12 months.

To avoid being one of the failures you need to learn fast.

Don't do it all yourself

I strongly urge you to seek out help and advice from people who have been there and done it. Don't waste time "finding out for yourself" when there are many people who can point you along the right path. If you are setting up your own new business you need to work fast and learning from other people can save you a lot of time.

If your business is going to have a website then you need to make sure it delivers value to your business. You want customers right? So you'll need to attract lots of people to visit your site and importantly they need to be people who are interested in buying what you have to sell.

I've taught myself over the last 6 years how to make the best use of the internet to drive my businesses. I've actually started to enjoy making sites profitable and watching how they climb the search engine rankings. So much so that I've now formed KKSmarts to offer that advice to people like you who are trying to do this themselves.

It's too early for me to think about my website

Maybe you've only just decided to set up your own business and thinking about optimising your website is not one of your priorities. That's fine. I would still suggest you sign up for the newsletter whilst you are on this page and at least when you are ready to think about website optimising you'll have some advice already in your in basket!

Can you prove you know about websites?

One of the lessons you'll learn as you seek advice from people for your business is to check they are "for real" and that they know what they are talking about. Make sure they have testimonials.
