There are a few things to keep in mind when optimizing description meta tags.
Firstly they are read by many of the search engines to decide what you page is about and therefore what keywords to index the page for.
Clearly then you should make sure that your keywords are included in the description meta tag.
However, many search engines use the description tag when displaying your web page in their search listing results. So it's important that the description actually says something about the page in a way that would entice someone to click on it and bring them to your site.
Obviously the description needs to be accurate otherwise your visitors will just leave as soon as they arrive which doesn't really do much for your web business.
Obviously if you are including your keyword in the description, then it should help keep the description relevant as well as accurate.
The key thin with the description tag is to make it compelling, ensure you include your keywords and keep it to no more than 200 characters (including spaces).
The reason I suggest about 200 characters is because this is usually what most of the search engines can comfortably display in their search results.
