What is the Keyword meta tag?The keyword meta tag is just another meta tag (read What are meta tags).
At one time the keyword meta tag was a very important meta tag because search engines use to read the tag and use the keywords it contained to index the web page.
However, as is always the way with one SEO tactic, the tag started to get abused by many web promoters as they started to stuff many keywords into the tag. In many cases they were using keywords that had no reference to the page itself.
So these days none of the major search engines use the keyword tag anymore.
You may therefore think you shouldn't bother to use it yourself. However whilst the major search engines ignore it many of the smaller search engines still use it. If there is a niche search engine for your particular web business then that search engine is likely to read your keyword tags. In this case it may be worth using the tag. However I would recommend you only put your main keywords for each page into your keyword meta tag.
The other reason you might use the tag is to simply record as a reminder of the keywords you are using on the page.
